About Me

Last Monday (27th August, 2012) I reached my highest ever weight of 205.6lbs. There wasn't any other significant event that made me realise that I absolutely needed to do something about my weight; just seeing that number was enough.

I've been making continuous attempts throughout the summer to lose weight - my aim was just to get back under 200lbs. A small goal - I was sure I could manage that. However, in the last three months, I haven't lost a single pound. But I finally understand why - in all my dieting attempts, not once have I ever just attempted to follow a simple eating plan with the expectation of just losing a couple of pounds a week. No, I always had to be aiming for some huge loss every week, accomplishing that through either starvation or crazy exercise phases, both of which would inevitably end up with me doing what I do best: pigging out.

At the grand old age of 29, I've finally realised that I have too much weight to lose to try and crash diet my way out of this. I've got about 60-70lbs to lose, and for some reason it's taken me this long to realise that it just has to be slow and steady. I just need to be consistent with good eating and exercise habits. If I can lose 1-2lbs a week, I'll be absolutely ecstatic. I just want to see the numbers go down. And if they don't, I just have to keep going and not stop.
